John C. "Jack" Dimmick

John Clarence "Jack" Dimmick, 90, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at his residence. Jack was born in Savannah, son of Frederick Lloyd and Alice Snyder Dimmick. He entered the United States Navy at the age of 18 and while stationed in New York, he met and married Mary Stathis. After WW II ended, he attended Columbia University where he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering and subsequently worked for Economics Laboratory EcoLab until he retired. Mr. Dimmick was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, Landrum Lodge No. 48 F.& A.M. and the Scottish Rite. He was a master gardener and very active with the Coastal Gardens/Bamboo Farm. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his sister Alice Allen Smith, and brothers William and Robert Dimmick.
Surviving are two daughters and son-in-law, Patricia and Jason Eager of Savannah; Diane Dimmick of Savannah and sister, Claire Whitaker of Amelia, VA.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m.
